COM (Component Object Model) This is a web of technologies ( e.g. C++, J++, VB, etc. ) which are relatively little to do with each other. The only one important thing that they have in common is, they follow a set of defined standards of working with objects. The COM objects in the application or document containing are transparent to them, however the functionality of the COM objects gets inserted into the document. Documents know the GUID of the object and understand the interface provided by the object to work with. The system searches for its GUID in the Registry and finds the .DLL, .OCX or the related application that contains the actual code for these functions. The interfaces provided by the objects is the key part, which actually does the communication with the documents and provides its functionality using the system registry. Visual Basic has its future in ActiveX technology. In Visual Basic - 6.0 you can also design ActiveX components, the only limitation is of multi-threading. In VB-6 you can design your components as single threaded, to obtain multi-threaded components, you can go for apartmental threading which uses the marshalling concept and behaves more or less as multithreaded components. From our download section you can download ActiveX controls and can use accordingly. 1: First control [Bellman Search Tool] has an excellent feature of searching.
